Ko Yamada

About:

Ko Yamada, born and raised in Japan, is a photographic and media project artist (BFA, MIP Photography / Ohio University), and a representative of PAC (Photography Art Caravan).
He gained recognition at FotoFest 1994 in Houston, Texas, and at the 2nd International Photo Meeting in São Paulo, Brazil, in 1995, before exhibiting at the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography in 1997.
After serving as the General Secretary of the International Symposium on Electronic Art (ISEA) in Nagoya in 2002, he expanded his practice to media-oriented artistic expressions.
His first project related to media, journalism, and print received the Jury President’s Award for Best Design in 2003 as part of the “Rodchenko Room” project. This work combined photography with sound installations, book and newspaper projects, and performance art.
His works have been exhibited internationally in Japan, Brazil, the United States, Germany, France, Thailand, and Malaysia.
He is the founder of the Minimal Sized Art Center and the Yojo-Han Art Center, where he currently serves as Director.
He also teaches media literacy, design, and photographic art at Nagoya University of the Arts, Nagoya Zokei University, and Nagoya University of Arts and Sciences.
